“Keep your eyes on planes two and four. Flying at speeds of 800 miles per hour only fifty feet above the ground, they will pass within just a few yards of one another. Robotechnology makes such precision possible.”  – Commander Roy Fokker

Game Objective

The Zentraedi forces advance.  You must eliminate the threat.  There are many talented pilots and crew of the SDF-1, but only one can be the best – the Ace Pilot.  Each turn you must evaluate the enemy threat, then attempt to hire the best SDF-1 crew for the job and then collect your kills.  Along the way gather key upgrades and thwart your friends in an attempt to gain the title of Ace Pilot.  Robotech®: Ace Pilot takes minutes to learn and games are quick and dynamic.

Winning the Game

After one cell in the cassette is depleted of Zentraedi Vessels, the game round finishes and all players add up the total value of their kills.  Not all kills are equal and you must push your luck and use a keen eye to stay ahead of your rivals.  The player with the most points becomes the Ace Pilot.

The Heroes

The Zentraedi tokens are placed in a small cassette.  It has 3 rows and 3 columns so that each player has an array of 9 tokens to choose from.  Each player inspects the 9 tokens and tries to kill the tokens that will give him the most points.  Each Hero has a unique way to attack the array with a special attack and damage pattern.  However, there is no guarantee that a player can gain the use of the best Heroes suited for the task.  Players roll special action dice, in an attempt to gain the best results.  Each player gets 3 attempts to gain the results that will allow him to take the best heroes.

Use Power Upgrades

Along the way, you may have a chance to acquire powerful upgrades.  When you take possession of an Upgrade token, you draw a random upgrade card.

The Zentraedi Threat

The Zentraedi mass in force.  Swarms of Pod fighters engulf the Heroes, while the larger Zentraedi Cruisers barrage the SDF-1 with heavy cannon fire.  The more plentiful the Zentraedi Vessel, the less it’s kill value is worth.  The best pilots and crew go after the larger prey.  If Khyron appears, only the Formidable Rick Hunter can take him down.

Game Play

Not everyone has the chops to become an ace pilot.  It takes nerve, alacrity and wit.  Don’t forget, your rivals will be collecting kills again.  Can you outsmart them?  Roll the Action Dice to choose the best Heroes for the task.  Each Hero causes damage to the Token Cassette in a unique way and damage Zentraedi Vessels.  Try to kill the vessels that will get you the highest points each round.
